Mission & method
Security writing you can check
About Hacking exists because most security content is either fearware or folklore. We write the third kind: explanations you can verify.
What this site is
About Hacking is a technical knowledge base covering security and ethical hacking: how real attack classes work at the level of mechanism, how modern defenses actually stop them, and how to build a legitimate career doing this work. It is organized as five topic clusters — fundamentals, web security, network security, defense, and careers — each anchored by a pillar page that maps every article in the cluster.
Why should you trust it?
You shouldn't — not on our word alone. Trust the checkable parts: every article names its author and their credentials, shows both its published and last-updated dates, and ends with the primary sources it was written from. When we explain a vulnerability class, the citation is OWASP, a vendor specification, or the standard itself — not another blog. The full process is documented in our editorial policy.
The legal line
Everything taught here can be practiced legally: on systems you own, in deliberately vulnerable labs, or inside programs that grant explicit written permission. We do not publish operational attack tooling walkthroughs, and articles about offensive techniques always carry the defensive story. Security knowledge belongs in public; instructions for crime do not.
